NEW DELHI: A five-member AIIMS medical board has submitted its final forensic opinion to the CBI in a sealed cover in the Twisha Sharma death case, stating that the model had died by suicide and there were no significant injury marks on her body to suggest she was physically assaulted.
The 11-page report, submitted on July 10, states that Twisha died by suicide and there were no medically significant injuries suggesting physical assault or struggle.
The AIIMS medical board that conducted a court-ordered second postmortem in the Twisha Sharma death case has submitted its final forensic opinion to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a sealed cover.
According to the board's report, it has resolved the disputed issue surrounding the litigature material, including the gymnastics belt with a metal ring, that had emerged during the investigation.
The five-member board, constituted on the directions of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, handed over its 11-page medical opinion t the CBI on July 10.
It clearly mentioned that she died by suicide and there is no injury of medico-legal importance suggestive of physical assault and struggle in the body of Twisha Sharma.
A copy of the compliance has also been sent to the Registrar General of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Dr Sudhir Gupta, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS, said the board had examined every aspect of the case in detail before arriving at its conclusion.
Meanwhile, the CBI has also filed a 636-page chargesheet against Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, invoking provisions dealing with dowry death, cruelty, and abetment of suicide.
The chargesheet was filed before a CBI court in Bhopal on Monday. Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh, a retired district judge, are both in judicial custody.
Twisha, a former Miss Pune titleholder who had worked as a model and actor, married Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025. Samarth is the son of Giribala Singh, a retired district judge.
She was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, 2026, about five months after the marriage.
Her family had alleged dowry harassment and demanded a CBI probe into the incident. - The Statesman/ANN
