Starring Tian Xiwei and Hu Yitian, the youth drama “Genius Girlfriend” will premiere on iQIYI International on August 2 as part of iQIYI Heartbeat Theater.
Adapted from a novel of the same name, the story begins when Lin Zhixia and Jiang Yubai become classmates in fourth grade. Spanning more than a decade across their school years and early careers, the series follows them as they grow up together, take separate paths, and eventually find their way back to each other.
Tian Xiwei plays Lin Zhixia, who observes and understands the world in her own way. She is focused and determined when she sets her mind on something, while her direct and candid nature often shapes how she connects with others.
Hu Yitian plays Jiang Yubai, who is gentle, perceptive, and often able to notice the feelings people leave unspoken. Beginning as classmates, the two gradually form a natural rhythm through friendly challenges, team competitions and everyday moments together.
An unexpected change at home disrupts their lives and eventually sends them down different paths. Years later, Lin Zhixia is working at a university, while Jiang Yubai has begun a new chapter in his career. When they meet again, the former classmates become professional partners. As they work together on new projects and challenges, they must also learn how to relate to the people they have each become.
A key appeal of the series lies in their balanced relationship, built on mutual admiration.
