BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Five foreign nationals were detained during a joint enforcement operation conducted by the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) and the Labour Department at a house in Mukim Lumapas.

The operation, codenamed Operasi Kakas JIPK 68/2026 Bersepadu, was carried out by the Law Enforcement Division of the INRD’s Bandar Seri Begawan branch in collaboration with the Labour Department’s Law Enforcement Division.

During the operation, immigration enforcement officers inspected five foreign nationals, who were subsequently detained for allegedly violating Regulation 15(3) of the Immigration Regulations under Chapter 17 by working in positions that did not correspond with those stated in their passports.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations by the Labour Department uncovered several suspected offences under the Employment Order, 2009.

The alleged violations include failure to pay full wages, failure to provide rest days, requiring employees to work on rest days, failure to grant leave on gazetted public holidays, failure to provide annual leave, placing foreign workers in employment or accommodation not approved under their foreign worker recruitment licences, and breaching the conditions of those licences.

The Immigration and National Registration Department said the integrated operation forms part of the authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat and prevent activities that violate the laws and regulations enforced in Brunei Darussalam.

Members of the public with information on immigration-related offences are urged to contact the Law Enforcement Division’s hotline at 8734888 or 8753888 (Bandar Seri Begawan), or 8984111 (Kuala Belait). - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
