Magnitude 5.6 quake hits Yamanashi in Central Japan, nearby areas


TOKYO: (Bernama-Kyodo) A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 jolted the central Japanese prefecture of Yamanashi and nearby areas on Friday (June 26), the weather agency said, Kyodo  News reported.

The 10.29pm quake measured lower six on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of seven, in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi.

The prefecture is known for Mt Fuji. No tsunami warning was issued. - Bernama-Kyodo
