JAKARTA: Indonesia's two largest ride-hailing operators, GoTo and Grab Indonesia, will reduce commissions charged on motorcycle ride-hailing services to eight per cent from July 1, allowing drivers to retain 92 per cent of passenger fares.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (June 22) after representatives of both companies met with Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, at the parliamentary complex here.

GoTo Vice President Director Catherine Sutjahyo said the new commission structure would apply to the company's GoRide motorcycle ride-hailing service.

"Following President Prabowo Subianto's call on May 1 concerning online motorcycle taxi drivers, we support efforts to continue improving the welfare of our driver-partners," she told a press conference.

Meanwhile, Grab Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Neneng Goenadi said the company would implement the same arrangement for its GrabBike service.

Prior to this, commissions on motorcycle ride-hailing services could reach up to 20 per cent under Indonesia's regulatory framework.
