BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Astro Adventures Boot Camp, organised in conjunction with Brunei MYCE 2026, held at Silver Jubilee Park, Brunei-Muara District, attracted 55 students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School, Seri Mulia Sarjana School, Jigsaw School and Sungai Teraban Primary School.

The one-day programme, which commenced at 7.30am and concluded at 8pm, was designed for children aged eight to 12, offering an engaging and educational introduction to astronomy through interactive and hands-on activities.

The boot camp aimed to spark curiosity about space, strengthen the participants’ understanding of basic astronomical concepts, develop observation skills and encourage scientific thinking among the younger generation.

Beyond learning about astronomy, the event also provided an opportunity for students from different schools to build friendships, strengthen teamwork and enhance communication and problem-solving skills in a fun and collaborative environment.

As one of the programmes under Brunei MYCE 2026, the Astro Adventures Boot Camp supports efforts to provide educational experiences that inspire young minds to explore science, technology and space-related disciplines from an early age.

Throughout the day, participants joined in a series of activities, including ice-breaking sessions, an introduction to the universe, a treasure hunt, Qiblah direction and navigation activities, a solar time demonstration using shadow observations, a water rocket challenge, a space quiz, skywatching and creative sessions featuring planet and galaxy-themed projects.

The programme concluded with a star gazing activity, allowing the participants to observe the Moon, planets and stars through telescopes. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
