Vietnam's army sets up unmanned vehicle department


HANOI: The General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) on Thursday (June 11) announced the decision to establish the Unmanned Vehicle Department, the Voice of Vietnam reported Friday.

The establishment is regarded as a new development in the modernisation of the VPA, according to the report.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang said the move is in line with the development trends of world military science and contributes to optimising the combat strength of the VPA, enhancing response capacity in all situations, the report said.

Director of the department Nguyen Van Truong said that the department will strengthen training, technological innovation and inter-agency coordination to enhance the military's preparedness and effectively respond to all high-tech warfare situations. - Xinhua
