Four die after inhaling toxic fumes at jewellery hub in India's Gujarat

HYDERABAD (Bernama): Four workers were killed after inhaling toxic fumes at a jewellery-making business area in India's Gujarat state on Sunday.

Three labourers and their supervisor were cleaning an effluent tank during routine maintenance. They died of suspected asphyxiation, local media reported.

None of them was reportedly equipped with safety equipment while working inside the tank.

The incident took place in the city of Surat, an export-oriented gem and jewellery hub that has seen a sharp fall in its business due to the United States (US)-Iran war.
