BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Fifty registered licensed travel agencies and tourist guides recently attended an engagement and awareness session organised by the Tourism Development Department, in collaboration with Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP).

The joint initiative aimed to equip key tourism stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols, operational boundaries, and compliance regulations within BSP jurisdictions, as well as to provide participants with an overview of the Seria Energy Lab as a key educational tourism destination.

The briefing strongly emphasised the importance of adhering to stringent safety measures, applicable laws and site restrictions in order to prevent incidents or violations.

Industry professionals were also briefed on the proper procedures for conducting tours safely, as well as the critical responsibilities that travel agencies and tourist quides hold in managing visitor movements in an orderly, safe, and compliant manner.

This briefing reflects the shared commitment between the Tourism Development Department and BSP in ensuring a more professional, safe and responsible tourism management framework.

Licensed travel agencies and tourist guides play a pivotal role as frontliners of the tourism industry and ensuring that they possess a sound understanding of operational guidelines and restricted areas enables them to provide accurate and high-quality information to visitors.

By upholding high standards of competence and professionalism, local operators and tourist guides not only enhance the overall visitor experience, but also contribute towards strengthening the safety, credibility, and image of Brunei Darussalam’s tourism industry. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
