Company fined for illegal waste disposal in Tutong, Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A local company in Kampong Sengkarai, Tutong was issued a BND1,000 compound fine after the Enforcement Unit from the Tutong District Office found a violation of Section 12 (1)(c) Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021 of illegal disposal of waste in a public area during a routine patrol.

The offenders were given seven days to settle the fine. The failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.

If guilty, they will face a fine between BND2,000 and BND10,000 for the first offence, and a fine between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both, for subsequent offences.

The agency reminded the public, especially companies and owners of commercial premises, to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings and not to dispose rubbish in public areas. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
