Myanmar's new president pledges stronger ties with all under five principles of peaceful coexistence

YANGON, (Xinhua): Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing has pledged to strengthen international relations in accordance with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television reported.

In the inaugural ceremony speech delivered at the Union Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw, Min Aung Hlaing said that Myanmar would maintain a balanced approach to international relations and enhance friendship with neighbouring countries, the report said.

As a member of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (Asean), the Myanmar government would strive to restore normal relations with Asean, he added.

The government would cooperate with neighbouring countries and regional partners in various political, economic, and social sectors, and would strengthen international relations in accordance with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, he said.

His speech also addressed matters related to education, economic development through micro, small, and medium enterprises, and national reconciliation, the report added.  -- Xinhua
