BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Baiduri Bank is participating in the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Celebration Ceremony Exhibition organised by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) at the International Convention Centre, Berakas on Saturday (April 4).

Held in conjunction with the festive celebrations, the exhibition centres on the theme ‘AI as a catalyst for community development’, highlighting how technology can be applied to support socioeconomic development in a way that is inclusive, responsible and grounded in national priorities.

The exhibition will be graced by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, reflecting the importance of innovation that aligns with Brunei’s long-term development and values.

Aligned with Brunei Vision 2035 and the whole-of-nation approach, the exhibition brings together public and private sector stakeholders to demonstrate how digital transformation can strengthen institutions, improve quality of life and support the nation’s journey towards a Smart Nation.

At the exhibition, Baiduri Bank is featured under the “Smart Economy and Inclusive Growth” cluster, where it showcases how banking innovation, digital capabilities and artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied in practical ways to support individuals, businesses and the broader economy.

Rather than focusing on technology in isolation, the bank’s showcase highlights how AI is being embedded into everyday banking to improve access, efficiency and decision-making, while maintaining strong governance and customer trust.

Among the highlights is Emmi, the Bank’s Generative AI-powered chatbot, upgraded in 2025 to deliver more natural and responsive interactions.

As the first bank locally to deploy Generative AI in customer support, Emmi enables faster resolution of common queries and improves access to key services.

Its integration with WhatsApp further strengthens service accessibility by extending support across the bank’s digital ecosystem.

Also featured is Baiduri Tap2Pay, a mobile payment solution that allows merchants to accept contactless card payments directly through NFC-enabled Android smartphones, without the need for additional hardware.

Designed with accessibility in mind, Tap2Pay supports SMEs and microbusinesses in adopting cashless payments more easily, contributing to a more inclusive and digitally enabled economy.

In addition, Baiduri Bank is sharing insights into its broader AI strategy, which focuses on applying AI where it delivers clear, tangible value – from enhancing customer engagement to strengthening internal decision-making and operational efficiency.

This approach is supported by continued investments in secure cloud infrastructure, enterprise data capabilities and cybersecurity, ensuring that innovation is implemented responsibly.

Commenting on the bank’s participation, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank Ti Eng Hui said, “As Brunei advances its digital ambitions, it is important that innovation is applied in a way that is practical, trusted and inclusive. Through platforms such as this exhibition, we can demonstrate how technologies like AI and digital payments can support everyday needs, strengthen businesses and contribute meaningfully to sustainable economic growth.”

The exhibition also highlights broader national priorities, including digital trust and cybersecurity, quality of life through smart services, education and human capital development, and the role of innovation in driving inclusive economic growth. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
