JAKARTA (Bernama): The Indonesian government is maintaining fuel prices for April, while assuring that oil supplies are sufficient despite rising global oil prices following the conflict in West Asia.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the decision was made following discussions between the government and the state-owned oil company Pertamina, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive emphasising the importance of the people.

"The government assures that fuel supplies are sufficient and prices will remain unchanged,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

In Indonesia, fuel price adjustments are usually made at the beginning of each month, in line with changes in global oil prices and government subsidy policies.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying.

"The public does not need to wait in long lines or hoard fuel excessively. Current stocks are sufficient, and the government is fully focused on maintaining the stability of both supply and prices," he said.

He hopes this clarification will provide accurate information to the public and prevent the spread of false news regarding fuel price increases.

Sufmi said the government will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that the welfare of the people is protected.

In Indonesia, Pertalite (RON 90), a subsidised fuel, is sold at a fixed price of Rp10,000 per litre, while subsidised diesel (biosolar) is capped at Rp6,800 per litre, with the government absorbing the cost difference.

In contrast, non-subsidised fuels are priced based on market mechanisms, with Pertamax (RON 92) at around Rp12,300 per litre and Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) at about Rp13,100 per litre for March, subject to periodic adjustments in line with global oil prices, exchange rates and other cost components.
