BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei-Miri border experienced smooth traffic flow on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri on March 21, as residents made their way across the border to reunite with family and friends.

At the Sungai Tujoh Control Post, queues began forming in the morning and at times stretched towards the edge of the compound.

However, the congestion eased quickly as additional immigration booths were opened to accommodate the increased volume of travellers.

The efficient processing contributed to shorter waiting times, allowing many to continue their journeys with minimal delay during the festive period.

Meanwhile, the Immigration and National Registration Department had earlier announced extended operating hours for control posts nationwide. The adjusted schedule, which began on March 18, sees operations running from 6am to 12 midnight daily.

The extended hours will remain in effect until March 29, after which normal operating hours from 6am to 10pm will resume on March 30. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
