Two children hit an old bomb with a rock and it exploded, killing one and injuring another in Myanmar's Falam township

YANGON: Two children found an old bomb in Falam township, Chin State, and hit it with a rock, causing it to explode, killing one person and injuring another, according to Myanmar police.

At around 10.30am on Wednesday (March 11), Maung Yohan Taung Hta Thang (12) and Maung Agon Chan Tha Shwe (8) from Ram Hta Lo Village, Falam Township, Chin State, went to swim in a fish pond in the west of the village when they found an old bomb near the pond. Maung Yohan Taung Hta Thang hit it with a rock and it exploded.

As a result of the explosion, Maung Yohan Taung Hta Thang died from blunt force trauma to the body, while Maung Agon Chan Tha Shwe, who was nearby, was also injured and taken to Hakha Township General Hospital for treatment.

The Myanmar Police Force said security forces are investigating the incident to identify those responsible and take effective action in accordance with the law. - Eleven Media/ANN
