BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha of Brunei shared the first photo and name of their baby girl on Feb 11, three days after she was born.

Prince Mateen, 34, posted a photo of his family of three on social media and announced the name of his new baby girl.

"Zahra Mariam Bolkiah," Mateen wrote below the photo on Instagram.

According to the Borneo Bulletin, the baby who was born on Feb 8 at JPMC Hospital, was officially named by her grandfather Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The newborn princess is not in the line of succession as Brunei’s Constitution allows only males to inherit the throne. Prince Mateen is one of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 10 children and is fifth in line to the throne.

"Anisha & I are so grateful to the incredible team at JPMC for their exceptional care and support, and so thankful to everyone for the kind wishes," wrote Prince Mateen.

The tender photo showed him smiling at the camera as he proudly held baby Zahra, while Princess Anisha, 31, looked on lovingly.

Prince Mateen gave another glimpse into his daughter's first days on Feb 13 and posted a photo that showed him proudly holding a sleeping Zahra to his Instagram stories.
