PHNOM PENH: Cambodia will host the 2031 Asian Youth Games, according to a news release from the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, reported Xinhua.

NOCC secretary general Vath Chamroeun said hosting the Asian Youth Games would be a great source of pride for Cambodia, describing it as one of the region's most prestigious multi-sport events, with athletes from all 45 Olympic Council of Asia members taking part.

"The NOCC will get ready to host the Games successfully," he said. "It will be another historic milestone in the development of Cambodia's sports sector."

Cambodia was originally scheduled to host the Games in 2029, but the event was postponed at the OCA's request following a change in the Games cycle from every four to every two years starting from 2029. - Bernama-Xinhua
