Clashes erupt in southern Thailand as officers cordon off suspected hideout


BANGKOK: In the southern border provinces, violence erupted again on Tuesday (Jan 20).

Residents in the old market area of Yala town and security officials reported a cordon-and-search operation and an exchange of gunfire between officers and a group of suspected armed men in Ban Po Yani village, Sateng Nok subdistrict, near the “Markaz” (Dawah Centre), not far from the old market area in Mueang district, Yala province.
