Bangladeshi sentenced for immigration offence in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A Bangladeshi national was sentenced to five months’ imprisonment and three strokes of the cane after being found guilty under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, according to a press statement by the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Md Abdur Razzak Benu, 38, overstayed in the country after the expiry of his immigration pass, with the sentence taking effect on January 5, the department said.

The department urged members of the public with information regarding individuals suspected of committing immigration-related offences to inform the authorities. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
