Vietnam proposes mandatory electric vehicle parking areas at apartment buildings

HANOI (Xinhua): Vietnam's Construction Ministry has proposed requiring apartment buildings to provide dedicated parking areas for electric vehicles along with charging stations in newly constructed projects.

Under the proposal, electric vehicle parking areas must be located near entrances and exits, close to ramps, and in positions that allow convenient movement.

Electric vehicles must be parked separately from gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles, with a minimum distance of two metres.

Electric vehicle parking zones must also be equipped with surveillance cameras capable of early fire detection through the monitoring of temperature, smoke and flames.

For existing apartment buildings, the provision of electric vehicle parking areas will depend on space availability and technical infrastructure. -- Xinhua
