BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah reaffirmed the strength and future potential of Brunei–Vietnam relations during a State Banquet hosted in Hanoi on Monday evening (Dec 1), emphasising expanded cooperation under the Comprehensive Partnership.
His Majesty highlighted the warm and longstanding ties between both nations, noting that bilateral cooperation continues to deepen through joint ventures in agriculture, growing trade linkages, and energy collaboration — efforts that not only enhance mutual economic gains but also contribute to regional food and energy security. His Majesty expressed satisfaction that the State Visit saw the signing of documents aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
His Majesty also commended Vietnam’s rapid development since joining Asean in Bandar Seri Begawan in 1995, describing the nation as one of the region’s rising economies and a respected Asean member state.
His Majesty expressed confidence that Vietnam would continue its upward trajectory under its ‘Vision 2045’ towards a prosperous and sustainable future. His Majesty further noted Vietnam’s growing presence on the international stage, including its re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council and the successful hosting of the UN Convention Against Cybercrime.
Looking ahead, His Majesty said Brunei is committed to working closely with Vietnam and other Aseam member states to advance the Asean Community Vision 2045, reinforcing regional peace, security and stability.
The State Banquet, held at the International Convention Centre, was hosted by President Luong Cuong of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
His Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen. Also in attendance was Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, whose presence underscored the close relations between the leaders of both nations. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
