Routine checks to temporarily close several fuel stations in Brunei in December

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) announced the temporary closure of several petrol stations across the country throughout December 2025 to facilitate routine inspections of fuel dispensing pumps.

In a statement issued by the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through the Weights and Measures Unit (SDT), the ministry said the checks are part of ongoing efforts to ensure all fuel pumps used for commercial transactions comply with the Weights and Measures Act 1983, Chapter 151.

The Act requires all weighing and measuring devices used for trade to be certified for accuracy, validity and registration with the SDT Unit.

To ensure the safety of the public and personnel conducting the inspections, the affected stations will be closed from 9am until completion, with each verification process expected to take approximately two hours. These inspections form part of a routine schedule carried out three times a year.

The ministry confirmed that the first closure will take place on December 6, when Taib Beribi Fuel Station in Brunei-Muara undergoes inspection between 9am and 11am. This will be followed by Satenaga Tanjung Nangka Fuel Station, also in Brunei-Muara, scheduled for inspection on December 8 during the same time period.

On December 9, inspection works will continue at Pengalayan Kapok Fuel Station in Brunei-Muara. The following week, on December 15, the verification team will conduct checks at Kampong Sungai Teraban (KKST) Berhad Fuel Station in Belait District. The final closure for the month will take place on December 23, with PHA Bakar bin Jambol Fuel Station in Tutong District scheduled for inspection from 9am to 11am.

The ministry encouraged members of the public to plan their refuelling activities accordingly and apologised for any inconvenience caused. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
