The evergreen Sheila Majid mesmerises her fans at her sold-out concert celebrating her 40th year in the music industry

KUALA LUMPUR: Sheila Majid, one of Malaysia's greatest divas, celebrated her 40th year in the music industry in such grand and fine style.

To put it simply, one of Malaysia's top singers since the 80s was incredibly mesmerising, and she wooed the packed house of 9,000-plus fans at the Axiata Arena during the weekend.

In a night of an extraordinary performance, Sheila simply showed why she is one of the country's most loved singers, and even at the age of 60, the one dubbed as the 'golden voice' also proved she is still one of the most amazing singers to grace the local scene.

For three hours, Sheila Majid, also known as the country’s 'Queen of Jazz', captivated the audience at the incredible  “Sheila Majid 40 Years in Music” concert in Bukit Jalil.

The KL concert, held on Nov 8, saw a packed house being serenaded with hits like "Warna," "Bahagia," "Ku Mohon," "Sinaran," "Memori" and many more. Among celebrities who also attended the show included Anuar Zain, Jacyln Victor, Ella and M. Nasir.

Fans also joined in the fun and sang along to Sheila's timeless tunes such as 'Antara Anyer Dan Jakarta', 'Aku Cinta Padamu', 'Dia', 'Lagenda', 'Ratu', 'Sinaran', and 'Warna' from the word go, with the charming artiste herself encouraging them to take over entire choruses.

"This is a magical and incredible night for me, and I want to thank all of you, my wonderful, wonderful fans, for making it an extraordinary night," said Sheila. "And I will sing for all Malaysians as long as I can."

Her last large-scale concert was in 2023, and this time, she returned with an even grander performance, which was a heartfelt tribute to everyone who has stood by her since the beginning of her illustrious career.

Backed by her superb 10-member band of experienced musicians, with her husband, Datuk Acis, and Mac Chew serving as music directors, Sheila also frequently mingled with the crowd and even brought her fans onto the stage throughout the night.

Simply looking radiant throughout the night, Sheila also showed she was full of energy during the show, never looked her age, and was always in the midst of ensuring the fans were entertained during the three-hour performance.

“Thank you so much for your love, your support, your encouragement, and your loyalty throughout these 40 years. You have always been there for me, and I really appreciate it. In fact, guys, this is our 40th anniversary together, you and me. I'm here all today because of you and the love you have showered me all these years," she said during the concert.

“Anyway, I also have good friends and my family who are here to support me, thank you so much. They have been supporting me for like 40 years now … And now I see them here today, but they have more grey hair. Okay, don’t be mad,” she joked, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Throughout her performance, every note and lyric Sheila delivered brimmed with soul, guiding the audience through each chapter of her career, from timeless classics to contemporary works, without ever losing the authenticity of her original musical essence.

Sheila once again proved that her aura and artistry remain unshaken even at 60, reaffirming her status as one of Malaysia’s most loved musical icons.

Now that she has successfully concluded her 40th anniversary concert in Kuala Lumpur, Sheila Majid is setting her eyes on Singapore.

The singer has also announced that she is taking her "40 Years in Music" concert to Singapore, at the Esplanade Concert Hall, for a performance that has been scheduled for June 6, 2026.

The news was first announced at her Axiata Arena show, with the jazz royalty saying, "We are taking this show to Singapore. We will retain the same production. If you want to see what's different in Singapore, then you should come watch!"
