Brunei records total trade of BND1.71B in August 2025


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei’s total trade for August 2025 reached BND1,708.8 million, according to the latest report from the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS), Ministry of Finance and Economy.

Exports accounted for BND1,111.7 million, while imports totaled BND597.1 million.

Major exports

The export sector was dominated by Mineral Fuels, which contributed 77.6 per cent of total exports, followed by Chemicals at 18.0 per cent, and Machinery and Transport Equipment at 3.3 per cent.

The top export destinations were Australia (21.6 per cent), the People’s Republic of China (18.2 per cent), and Singapore (16.0 per cent), with Mineral Fuels and Chemicals being the primary commodities shipped to these markets.

Key imports

Imports for August 2025 were valued at BND597.1 million. The leading import categories included Mineral Fuels (52.5 per cent), Machinery and Transport Equipment (18.4 per cent), and Food (10.1 per cent).

Brunei’s largest import partners were Malaysia (16.5 per cent), the United Arab Emirates (16.3 per cent), Australia (11.7 per cent), and People’s Republic of China (11.7 per cent), supplying mainly Mineral Fuels, Food, and Chemicals.

Use of imports

Most imports were utilised as Intermediate Goods for processing (58.8 per cent), followed by Capital Goods for business operations (36.5 per cent), and Consumption Goods for household use (4.7 per cent). - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
