Sultan of Brunei, Crown Prince receive Singapore Parliament Speaker in separate audiences

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Thursday (Oct 9) afternoon, received in audience Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, The Honourable Seah Kian Peng, at Istana Nurul Iman.

During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty congratulated The Honourable on his re-election as the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore, including bilateral cooperation between the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam and the Parliament of Singapore, as well as strengthening mutual understanding in the regional and international context.

The Honourable and delegation are in the country for a two-day working visit. The visit also aims to explore ways to strengthen collaboration between legislative institutions in Asean and to enhance bilateral ties between the legislative bodies of Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.

Meanwhile, in a separate Audience Ceremony that took place earlier Thursday at Qashr Al-Meezan, His Royal Highness Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office also received in audience the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore.

Accompanying The Honourable during the Audience Ceremonies were Members of the Parliament of Singapore, namely The Honourable Dr Wan Rizal; The Honourable Dennis Tan; The Honourable Lee Hui Ying; The Honourable Hazlina Abdul Halim; together with High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Laurence Bay.

Present during the Audience Ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman were Speaker of the Legislative Council Datuk Seri Setia Awang Abdul Rahman Mohamed Taib; Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Datuk Seri Paduka Awang Mohammed Riza Mohammed Yunos; and Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council Datin Paduka Dr Dayang Huraini Datuk Paduka Awang Hurairah. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
