Brunei police seize contraband in Temburong operations


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Bangar Police Station of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) seized contraband in two separate incidents at 11pm on Sept 26 and 8am on Sept 27 in the Temburong district.

According to the RBPF, in the first incident, following intelligence and surveillance by Bangar Police Station personnel, a team of police personnel detected two suspicious vehicles in the Batang Tuau area. Both vehicles were intercepted with two local men aged 25 and 26 detained.

The vehicles were checked and contraband comprising 24 bottles and 53 cans of alcohol as well as 80 cartons of cigarettes were found.

Meanwhile In the second incident, police received information regarding the discovery of packages in the area of the track and field building at the Temburong Sports Complex.

An inspection uncovered two boxes believed to contain contraband. Investigations confirmed the boxes contained 100 cartons of cigarettes.

The suspects and the seized items from both incidents were handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED).

The RBPF urged the public to provide information related to smuggling activities or the distribution of prohibited goods. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
