BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Some 41 youth from the Belait District are taking part in the Information Literacy Programme for Youth of Mukim Belait District organised by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, through the Belait District Information Branch, as part of its efforts to convey official information and the government’s aspirations to the youth.
The opening ceremony of the two-day programme took place yesterday and was attended by Acting Deputy Director of Information Department Fathi Foad Datuk Seri Setia Abu Bakar, the guest of honour.
Head of Belait District Information Branch Muhd Khairulhadi Muhd Muhtaddir in his welcoming remark shared, “The Information Literacy Programme is one of the initiatives carried out by the Information Department to support the Government of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah as the official government media.
“Through the whole-of-nation and whole-of-government approaches, this programme aims to disseminate the new national youth policy, while also helping to expose youth to useful information that can be beneficial in their personal development indirectly, will contribute towards propelling the nation in achieving the goals of Brunei Vision 2035 – namely, to produce a well-educated, highly skilled and accomplished people,” he added.
Participants were exposed to a variety of current information, including topics on youth development, current issues and government policies through briefing sessions, the implementation of interactive activities and visits to selected agencies.
In further strengthening its vision of ‘Cultivating an Information Society’, the Information Department will continue to diversify its platforms for disseminating information about government policies and activities. It also provides the department with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the current needs and aspirations of the youth. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
