Laos sets sights on becoming a blockchain hub with first Blockchain Fest 2025

VIENTIANE: Laos will host the first Lao Blockchain Fest 2025 under the theme “Building Resilient Future-Chain”, creating opportunities for domestic and international startups as well as regional businesses to help position the country as a hub for blockchain technology and finance.

The event will take place in Vientiane on November 21–22, Minister of Technology and Communications Prof. Dr Boviengkham Vongdara told a press conference last week.

Set to showcase cutting-edge innovations, the festival will serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing, dialogue, networking and business opportunities. It is expected to draw investors, technology developers, government agencies, enterprises and blockchain enthusiasts from within Laos and abroad.

This large-scale national event is designed to promote blockchain as a driver of the digital economy in line with the government’s strategic development plan and vision for digital transformation.

The Blockchain Fest aims to be inclusive and sustainable, reaching communities at both central and local levels, while encouraging the adoption of digital technologies across society, Dr Boviengham said.

In particular, it will highlight blockchain’s role in enhancing digital platforms and supporting infrastructure development.

The event will feature exhibitions and expert-led sessions on blockchain applications, investment and finance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Web 3.0, digital assets and startup innovation. It will also foster exchanges between the public and private sectors, creating awareness of new-era technologies and their potential for Laos, according to the minister.

In parallel, the Alliance Information Technology Forum will provide further opportunities for domestic and regional startups to connect, innovate and strengthen Laos’ bid to become a blockchain and financial technology hub in the years ahead. - Vientiane Times/ANN
