Myanmar rice export exceeds 1mil tonnes in 5 months

YANGON: Myanmar exported 1.04 million tonnes of rice and broken rice in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2025-2026, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) on Friday (Sept 5).

The South-East Asian country earned US$355 million from the exports during the five months, from April to August this year, the federation's data showed.

During the period, the country exported rice and broken rice via both sea and land routes to more than 30 countries, it said.

The federation aims to achieve three million tonnes of rice exports in the current fiscal year, the federation said. - Xinhua
