Local retailers return to net buying with RM223.1mil inflow- MBSB IB


KUALA LUMPUR: Local retailers returned to net buying on Bursa Malaysia last week after a week of selling, recording net inflows of RM223.1 million, MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB IB) said.

In its weekly Fund Flow Report, the investment bank said local institutions extended their net-selling streak to a fourth consecutive week, with net outflows of RM88.8 million.

It shared that foreign institutions reversed course, returning to net selling after two straight weeks of net buying, posting net outflows of RM134.3 million.

"Foreign institutions were net buyers on only one of the five trading days during the week, with the sole inflow recorded on Tuesday at RM169.5 million.

"Outflows were highest on Friday at RM148.8 million, followed by Wednesday (RM72.9 million), Thursday (RM63.9 million) and Monday (RM18.2 million)," it said.

MBSB IB said the transportation and logistics sector attracted the largest foreign net inflows at RM154.4 million, followed by financial services (RM144.9 million) and utilities (RM32.8 million).

The biggest foreign net outflows were from industrial products and services (RM204.8 million), consumer products and services (RM110.9 million) and technology (RM65.3 million).

The investment bank also said average daily trading volume declined across all investor groups, falling 12.1 per cent among retailers, 14.1 per cent among local institutions and 7.0 per cent among foreign institutions.- Bernama
