BANGKOK: Thailand's economy expanded faster than expected in the second quarter on strong export growth ahead of US tariffs taking full effect, but momentum is likely to slow over the rest of the year, the state planning agency said on Monday (Aug 18).

South-East Asia's second-largest economy grew 2.8 per cent in the April-June quarter from a year earlier, the National Economic and Social Development Council said, beating a Reuters poll forecast of 2.5 per cent, but still below the 3.2 per cent annual increase in the first three months.
