BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Police in Temburong apprehended a local couple suspected of possessing contraband items during a routine stop along Jalan Batang Duri, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said on Aug 2.

Personnel from the Bangar Police Station detained a blue vehicle and found a black plastic box containing a carton and 19 sticks of cigarettes, along with two bottles of alcohol.

Both suspects, identified as husband and wife, were taken into custody and brought to the Bangar Police Station for further investigation.

The seized items and the suspects were later handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further action.

The RBPF reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the possession and distribution of contraband and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities via the emergency hotline 993 or by contacting the nearest police station. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
