MANILA: Several flights were cancelled on Thursday (July 17) due to unfavourable weather conditions brought about by Tropical Depression Crising, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced.

In an advisory issued around 11am, CAAP reported that the following flights were cancelled:

DG-6114: Naga (WNP) – Manila (MNL)

DG-6171: Clark (CRK) – Masbate (MBT)

DG-6172: Masbate (MBT) – Clark (CRK)

“Affected passengers are advised to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for options on rebooking or refunding their tickets,” the Caap said.

The agency added that it will continue to “monitor the situation and will issue further updates as additional information becomes available.”

Earlier on Thursday, Caap announced that it had placed all 44 of its operated airports under “heightened alert” due to the tropical depression.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) 11am weather bulletin, Crising was last spotted 520km east-northeast of Juban, Sorsogon, or 470km east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

It continues to pack maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometres per hour (kph) near the centre and gusts of up to 70 kph, while now moving north-northwestward at 25 kph. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
