YANGON: Myanmar will hold a traditional boxing competition at the Theinbyu Stadium in Yangon on June 22 to mark the International Olympic Day, an official from the Myanmar Lethwei Federation said on Monday (June 16).

"A total of eight traditional boxing matches will be included in the event. Additionally, two women's kickboxing matches will also be held as a trail ahead of the upcoming 33rd SEA Games," said U Kyaw Zin Oo, chief executive officer of the federation, told Xinhua on Monday.

"Each year, we organise boxing events to mark International Olympic Day as a sports activity," he added.

This year's contest will be jointly organised by the Myanmar Lethwei Federation and the Myanmar Martial Arts Group, he said.
