AHMEDABAD, (India): A miracle occurred during the devastating Air India accident that resulted in the deaths of nearly all passengers aboard flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London.

Just as the Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police announced that there were no likely survivors, new information emerged indicating that a passenger from seat 11A, Ramesh Vishwashkumar, claimed to have survived the devastating crash.

Vishwash, a British national, was in India for a few days to visit his family and was going back to the UK along with his brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh.

Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise, and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly, Vishwash told media.

Vishwash described the terrifying scene, mentioning that there were bodies lying all around him and that he was too frightened to look at the gruesome sight.

Hence, he stood up and ran. He said he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Vishwash has lived in London for 20 years with his wife and kids. The civil hospital in Ahmedabad is lying with dead bodies, and the CP has informed us that the bodies will be handed back to the family members after the DNA test is done.

Currently being treated at Civil Hospital, Asarwa in Ahmedabad, Vishwash is said to have sustained injuries to his chest, eyes and feet. He had been visiting family in India and was returning to the UK along with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, whose status remains unknown.

The crash site, a densely populated area, added to the complexity of the disaster, with officials also confirming casualties among residents on the ground as the aircraft impacted buildings, including potentially a medical college hostel.

Rescue workers faced immense challenges in the charred wreckage, battling ongoing fires and working to recover bodies.

Meanwhile, three medical students have been reported as among those killed in the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) confirms.

The students were reportedly staying in a nearby hostel when the aircraft went down in the densely populated Meghani Nagar area.

According to the IMA, around 45 other students are injured and hospitalised, though they are in a stable condition. - Agencies
