Over 5.8 million students return as schools reopen nationwide in Myanmar

YANGON (Xinhua): A total of 5,822,954 students attended schools across Myanmar, including basic education schools, private schools, and monastic schools, as they reopened nationwide on Monday for the 2025-26 academic year, state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Tuesday.

The government provides free textbooks, notebooks, and stationery to all students from primary to high school, along with free school uniforms for kindergarten and primary-level students, the report said.

Late enrollment remains open for students who were unable to enroll on time due to various circumstances, it added. - Xinhua
