BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) held the ‘DBP Dudun’ programme at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School to strengthen and preserve the Malay language.
The outreach programme aimed to provide broad exposure and enjoyable experiences through participation in various interesting and interactive activities.
Over 1,500 students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School and Kindergarten participated in the activities organised by DBP.
One of the activities was the storytelling session for kindergarten students by three local children’s storybook and comic writers Rosmuliati Yahya, Siti Nadhrah Norzelan and Mohammad Rezuan Jamaeh.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School Abdullah @ Dollah Ahad, the guest of honour, officiated the DBP Dudun programme.
Acting Director of the DBP Suip Abdul Wahab said DBP Dudun is one of the initiatives to promote the Malay language by the DBP to instill a positive attitude in the community in empowering and preserving the Malay language.
He urged all teachers to continue to play an active role in strengthening the use of the Malay language in daily teaching and learning in schools while students should seize the opportunity to interact and participate in various activities with determination and enthusiasm to learn and increase knowledge, especially related to the Malay language.
Following the launch, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School students performed a Dendang Tari Melayu Asli Kayum Oh Kayum accompanied by gulintangan music.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School Principal Hafizah Salat and officials from the DBP and the school were also present. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
