Local Indian film star Irfan Zaini is now basking in the limelight after impressive display in local runaway hit 'Blood Brothers: Bara Naga',

Malaysian actor Irfan Zaini, a well known face in the local Indian movie scene, is all ready to break into the big time.

Having already playing guess parts in Tamil action superstar Vijay's movies previously and also making a name for himself in the local Indian movies and television series, he has made many heads turn with his impressive performance in the top local hit movie 'Blood Brothers: Bara Naga".

In a special interview with The Star during a fans meet in Kuala Lumpur, Irfan said he couldn't help but feel joyful to even receive attention from Malay fans for his performance in the hot movie.

The actor, who had been more focused on the Indian entertainment industry prior to his appearance in the film as the character Malik, said that he has been recognised more when he is out and about now.

"This is, indeed, a big honour for me. These days, many fans recognise and many fans wanting to take selfies with me. I'm truly honoured," said Irfan during the meeting.

In the movie, Irfan plays a happy-go-lucky character, Malik, who despite his fun nature is fiercely loyal to the band of brothers he is working with. He also won many ardent fans with his portrayal of the character and his loyalty to the main characters right until the end of the movie.

Irfan is also well-known among the Malaysian Tamil-speaking audience as a versatile actor, model, and TV host, with a decade-long presence in the entertainment industry.

For now, there are several exciting projects up on his plate and he only wants and promises to perform better in his coming movies.

"I believe in dedication and hard work. If you are honest in your work, success will come and I just want to continue in being a better actor all the time; and at the same time, have the support of the fans."

As for the 'Blood Brothers' movie, he proved his dedication again in preparing for the film five months prior to shooting.

"This is my first action movie and the biggest project I have ever been in for the past six years. So I had to work hard to make sure the opportunity given is not being wasted," he added.

As for the hardest scene he had to do, Irfan said that he had to repeat a fight scene with director Syafiq Yusof for 38 times to ensure that the scene is perfect.

"It was not easy to make the film. I am thankful to all the audiences who gave us their support. And the experience was amazing to say the least. I take this opportunity to thank the directors for giving me a chance to perform in this movie," he added.

For the record, Irfan is one of the few actors based in Malaysia to act in two top Tamil movies. As a child, he also had a bit part with top Indian superstar Vijay in the 2008 movie 'Kuruvi', where he played the role of heroine Trisha's brother.

Fast forward to 2024, and Irfan has once again found himself sharing the screen with Vijay in “GOAT", one of the biggest blockbusters in South India last year.

"I have some interesting projects to look forward to now. And I can promise fans that I will always give my very best and pray that it will works well with my fans," said the 29-year-old Irfan.

In his career, Irfan also has a great run in the local Tamil entertainment scene. He also played many roles including an impressive show in the Astro Ria drama 'Akira Khan' and also the immensely popular 'One Cent Thief 2' earlier this year. He also had a role as a law officer Viu's drama 'Nafsu'.

But the impetus of his career came in 2023 when he played a major role in "Manmadha Bullets Reloaded", a hugely popular Tamil TV series that aired in Astro. Not to forget his career also blossomed with a supporting role in 'Takdir Itu Milik Aku', another hit drama from Astro with popular stars Emma Maembong and Shaheizy Sam, leading the show.

"Work has been good. I always try to improve my career. I also like to take this opportunity to thank my friends, family members and well-wishers who has helped me so much in my career," said Irfan.

With so much going for the local boy who has done well in his career by acting in Malay, Tamil and also international productions, it will be indeed interesting to see Irfan's next feature - one which will be followed by his fans in the country.
