VIENTIANE: Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Thongloun Sisoulith, has praised the Party’s Personnel and Organisational Committee for its tremendous contribution to Party building and consistent growth over the past seven decades.

The Party chief, who is also state president, expressed high praise during a grand event to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the Personnel and Organisational Committee – the core body in charge of the Party’s organisational and personnel affairs. The Party also marks its 70th founding anniversary this year.

Highlighting the growing journey of the Party, which led Lao citizens in the fight for the nation’s independence and liberation, the leader said Party membership has grown from just 300 cadres 70 years ago to 415,784 cadres today, Lao National Radio reported.

“Therefore, we are extremely proud, as it can be said that the 70-year founding anniversary of the Party Central Committee’s Personnel and Organisational Committee marks 70 years of pride in the growth of our Party,” the Secretary General told those attending the celebratory event.

Party members play a central role in leading the safeguarding and development of Laos, which has a population of more than seven million people.

The Party chief spoke highly of the Personnel and Organisational Committee’s dedicated contributions to Party building and the training of Party cadres, as well as strengthening the organisational structure of the Party and state over past years.

The leader expressed the hope that, building on the wisdom acquired from experiences and lessons accumulated over the past decades, the Committee would be able to fulfill its personnel and organisational mandate and meet the goals of the Party’s renovation ambitions. Also speaking at the event, the Head of the Personnel and Organisational Committee, Sisay Leudethmounsone, recalled the founding of the Committee, its history, and the success of its development journey.

Sisay, who is also a member of the 13-member Politburo, the Party’s top decision-making body, said the Committee had fulfilled its political mandate.
