JAKARTA: The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is seeking to attract more Indian tourists by promoting Indonesian tourism in South Asia's Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2025 in New Delhi, India.
"It is one of the efforts to maintain Indonesian tourism's presence in South Asia and boost arrivals of tourists from India to Indonesia," the ministry's Deputy of Marketing, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said as quoted from a statement from her ministry on Wednesday (Feb 19), reported Antara news agency.
In the event held from Feb 19 to 21, the Ministry of Tourism brings together Indonesian and Indian tourism players to conduct business transactions in the field of tourism.
The tour packages offered to Indian tourism players at the event include Bali and five super priority tourism destinations, such as Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Borobudur Temple (Central Java), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), and Likupang (North Sulawesi).
The Ministry of Tourism also presents the Indonesian Pavilion in SATTE 2025 to expand the network and collaborate with potential partners in India.
To promote Indonesian tourism, the ministry collaborates with 46 selected companies, 84.8 per cent of which come from Bali and the rest from Jakarta and Yogyakarta. Those companies offer special packages, ranging from wellness tourism to honeymoon-related tourism.
During the SATTE 2025, the Ministry of Tourism is collaborating with the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi to convey the latest tourism information in Indonesia.
Marthini underscored that India is one of the tourism markets with vast potential for Indonesia.
Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2024 showed that 710,688 Indian tourists visited Indonesia, an increase of 17.2 per cent from 2023.
India ranked sixth as a country that contributed the most tourists to Indonesia, after Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor-Leste.
Data from the Directorate General of Immigration revealed that in January 2025, India ranked third among the top 20 countries of origin for foreign visitors to Bali, following Australia and China. - Bernama-Antara
