China-born model Coco, the ex-girlfriend of Hong Kong actor Patrick Tse, has shared more details about their past relationship.

In a recent interview with Chinese media, Coco – who’s 49 years younger than Tse, 89 – was asked whether she’d still date the screen star if he had no money.

In response, she said she was already financially independent then and could easily afford luxury goods on her own, adding: “I never dated him for his wealth. I was drawn to his charm.”

Coco revealed that she once suffered major financial losses after a failed business investment, and to help settle the debts incurred, Tse sold his Rolls-Royce.

Reports indicate that the car held special meaning for Tse as it was gifted to him by his son Nicholas for Fathers Day in 2013, and also featured a customised number plate from his daughter Jennifer.

Coco shared that Tse treated her with great care during their relationship.

She said the actor gave her a property in Shanghai as an investment and even bought her gold bars as a form of long-term financial security.

“He told me, ‘When you are penniless, you can cash out (the gold bars),’” she said, as quoted by Singapore news portal AsiaOne.

As for the rumour claiming she was given a HK$20mil (RM10mil) breakup settlement fee, Coco simply responded that the assets she received from Tse were worth far more.

“Regarding the so-called breakup fee, I honestly don’t care about it at all,” she said.

Coco and Tse began dating in 2005, when the former was 20 years old. They broke up in 2018.

Tse was previously married to Taiwanese actress Chen Chen from 1974 to 1978.

In 1979, he married actress Deborah Lee, with whom he shares two children – actor Nicholas and model Jennifer. The former couple divorced in 1995.
