YANGON: A total of 200 trafficked Chinese nationals were rescued in an online fraud crackdown in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area and will be transferred to China after necessary investigations.

Taking advantage of the current situation in the border areas, some foreign nationals, including ethnic armed organisations and related parties, are involved in online fraud and online gambling activities and the government is investigating and repatriating them, the State Administration Council (SAC) said in a statement.

In this regard, 200 Chinese nationals, including 194 men and 6 women, who were trafficked for online fraud, online gambling and employment in Thailand in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area of ​​Kayin State, were identified and arrested at around 7 pm on February 14, and will be handed over to Chinese authorities in accordance with procedures after conducting necessary investigations.

The state is cooperating with relevant countries to promptly identify and extradite foreign nationals who have committed fraud, gambling and other crimes in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area to their respective countries in accordance with procedures. - Eleven Media/ANN
