25 injured, including three security officials, after motorcycle bomb explosion in Narathiwat


NARATHIWAT (Bernama) - A total of 25 individuals, including three volunteer security personnel, were injured in a motorcycle bomb explosion outside the Weng Volunteer Defence Security Post on Saturday evening.

Weng Police Chief, Pol. Col. Heraman Chedee, said the incident occurred at 7.15 pm local time when a bomb, believed to have been attached to a motorcycle parked about 700 metres from the Weng Police Station, detonated.

"CCTV footage shows a suspect riding a modified motorcycle fitted with a homemade bomb before leaving it in front of the volunteer security post

"The suspect then fled with an accomplice on another motorcycle five minutes before the bomb exploded,” Heraman told Bernama on Saturday.

He added that the explosion injured 22 civilians and three volunteer personnel, besides damaging several motorcycles parked nearby.

"The police are actively tracking down the individuals or group responsible for this attack,”he said. - Bernama
