MANDALAY: Myanmar Airways International (MAI) announced the launch of its new direct Mandalay-Chiang Mai route at Mandalay International Airport on February 10, according to sources.

The new Mandalay-Chiang Mai route is the first new route to be added to MAI’s international network by 2025, and is the fourth route MAI will operate via Mandalay International Airport.

To mark the launch, the aircraft was welcomed with water salute at Mandalay International Airport and Chiang Mai International Airport, and special gifts were given to passengers on board.

The MAI will operate the new Mandalay-Chiang Mai route every Monday and Friday starting February 10.

It has completed the renewal of its IATA (IOSA) certification, the most stringent requirement in the global aviation industry, and is continuing to enhance its passenger safety processes.

The airline has been certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) since 2012, and this renewal is part of MAI’s ongoing efforts to ensure excellent flight operations and passenger safety.

The IOSA is a global industry standard designed to assess an airline’s safety management system, quality assurance and operational management across all aspects of its aviation operations.

All IATA member airlines are required to undergo an assessment every two years to ensure that they are operating in accordance with the highest standards of civil aviation. - Eleven Media/ANN
