Brunei launches online haj registration system

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei has launched the Bruhaj online haj registration system, marking a transition from manual processing to a more systematic and technology-driven approach.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Department of Haj Affairs, introduced the system to improve service efficiency by leveraging information and communication technology.

The launch ceremony took place Monday at the MoRA building. It began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a prayer led by Acting Senior Religious Officer Awang Mohd Hisham Awang Maidin from the Department of Hajj Affairs.

This was followed by a public awareness video presentation on the new system.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Badaruddin Awang Othman officiated the launch of Bruhaj. Attendees also viewed a registration guide video and had the opportunity to try the newly introduced system.

Haj registration via Bruhaj requires users to log in through the e-Darussalam platform.

The Department of Haj Affairs will also provide assistance through Bruhaj Clinics, available during working hours at the Ground Floor, Additional Building, Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as at the Department of Religious Affairs offices in Belait, Tutong, and Temburong.

Registration is free and open starting Jan 20 2025 for Brunei citizens who are Muslims and hold a yellow Smart Identity Card. This policy aligns with the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah’s quota regulations, which reserve each country’s haj slots for its citizens.

Permanent residents and foreign nationals married to Brunei citizens or permanent residents can register by visiting the Department of Haj Affairs in person.

Those who have already registered manually do not need to re-register, as their application data and waiting list status have been transferred into the Bruhaj system. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
