Cambodian Foreign Minister to attend Asean foreign ministers' retreat in Malaysia

PHNOM PENH (Xinhua):Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to participate in Asean foreign ministers' retreat in Langkawi, Malaysia, this weekend (Jan. 18-19), the Cambodian Foreign Ministry has announced.

Under the theme "Inclusivity and Sustainability", the retreat will discuss the latest developments on the 44th and 45th Asean summits and related summits held in Vientiane, Laos, in October 2024, and priorities of Malaysia's Asean chairmanship in 2025, the press release said.

"The ministers will also exchange views on Asean external relations as well as regional and international issues of common interest and concern," it said.

On the sidelines of the retreat, Sokhonn, who is also a Cambodian deputy prime minister, is expected to have bilateral meetings with some of his Asean counterparts on further deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, it added.

Asean (the Association of South-East Asian Nations) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. - Xinhua
