Here comes the rainy season - showers and thunderstorms expected across Brunei, says meteorological dept

BANDAR SERI BEAGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei is set to experience a mix of weather conditions over the coming days, according to the latest forecast from the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department. Residents are advised to prepare for showers and potential thunderstorms as part of a partly cloudy outlook.

The forecast for today indicates partly cloudy skies with intermittent showers or thundershowers expected to sweep across several areas during the afternoon and night. Daytime temperatures are projected to peak at 32 degrees celsius, dipping to a cooler 25 degrees celsius in the evening.

Winds are forecast to blow from the northeast or northwest at speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, potentially escalating to 40 km/h during heavy or thundery showers.

The sea state is expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 and 2.0 metres, ensuring relatively calm conditions for coastal activities.

Residents are advised to exercise caution as heavy downpours may lead to flash floods, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Additionally, gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h during intense showers could pose risks to outdoor activities, making it essential to stay vigilant and avoid unnecessary exposure to adverse weather conditions.

As the week progresses, the temperature is expected to stabilise around 31 degrees celsius during the day and 24 degrees celsius at night on Tuesday and Wednesday. Brunei’s Meteorological Department urges citizens to stay updated with the latest weather reports and take necessary precautions. – Izah Azahari
