Charity cycling event in Brunei unites riders for common cause

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The OKURide event, a charity cycling initiative held in conjunction with International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024, aiming to foster inclusivity, promote health and raise awareness for individuals with special needs being held for two days, was flagged off Saturday (Nov 30) morning.

Forty cyclists will participate in the collective OKURide event, each undertaking a challenging 50-kilometre (km) ride, collectively covering a total distance of 2,000km.

The OKURide highlights the potential for future initiatives that not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also unite communities towards a common cause.

The ride will conclude Sunday (Dec 1).

The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, embodying a spirit of unity and collaboration within the community.

It is organised by The IMPIAN Project and sponsored by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Perbadanan TAIB) and its subsidiaries – Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd.

Founder of The IMPIAN Project Lailatul Zubaidah Hussain expressed gratitude to Perbadanan TAIB and its subsidiaries for the sponsorship and support, which reflects their dedication to empowering communities and contributing to the nation’s growth.
