Brunei launches new digital hub to support innovation, collaboration and growth

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The former Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (DST) Headquarters Building has been transformed into Mutiara Exchange, a multi-tenant community hub that fosters collaboration, innovation, and growth.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah officiated the launch on Monday (Nov 4) as the guest of honour.

The minister said, “This transformation is not just about upgrading a physical structure; it embodies our commitment as a country to embrace technology. The enhancements include a complete upgrade of the exterior glass façade, refurbishment of common areas, and the creation of modern meeting and event spaces accommodating over 800 individuals. These improvements ensure the building maintains its class-A standards while positioning itself as a leader in the industry.”

He noted that the building’s facilities management services have been modernised with digital features, including facial recognition access points, a streamlined digital meeting room booking system, and enhanced audio-visual technologies.

“These advancements reinforce the building’s status as a premier business destination and set a benchmark for quality that meets regional standards and beyond,” he added.

The minister expressed hope that this transformation would serve as a model for both old and new buildings in Brunei Darussalam.

“As we continue to promote Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), it is crucial that our infrastructure meets the needs of multinational companies. This building should be a beacon of innovation and progress, providing a dynamic space for work, collaboration, and connection,” he added. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
