MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Malaika Arora's father, Anil Arora, is reported to have died by suicide after jumping off the seventh floor of his residence in Mumbai's Bandra district early Wednesday morning (Sept 11).

The authorities have sent 70-year-old Anil's body for a post-mortem as they investigate the circumstances surrounding his death which has shocked fans and well-wishers alike.

Malaika was not at home at the time of the incident, according to officials.

Anil’s sudden death has brought a wave of support and concern for Malaika who has been prominent in the Indian film industry.

Alongside her ex-husband, actor Arbaaz Khan, who has been seen at her residence, senior police officials are actively looking into the case to understand the reasons behind the heartbreaking incident.

Malaika’s relationship with her father is surrounded by a lot of complexity, especially following her parents’ separation when she was just 11 years old.
